excert from the Aquarian Gospel of Christ chapter 33;
12 And Vidyapati said, The coming age is not the age of spirit life and men will pride themselves in wearing priestly robes, and chanting pious chants to advertise themselves as saints.
13 The simple rites that you will introduce will be extolled by those who follow you, until the sacred service of the age will far outshine in gorgeousness the priestly service of the Brahmic age.
14 This is a problem men must solve.
15 The perfect age will come when every man will be a priest and men will not array themselves in special garb to advertise their piety.
[NOTE: Christ and Vidyapati agree on various points. Though Christ was not against wearing priestly garb, as he himself wore spiritual clothing, he was against show-offs and hypocrites wearing it . Additionally, he belonged to, or was seriously affiliated with, an Essene group which required a specific dress code for recognition as a monk. So this was not about the clothing, it was about the consciousness behind it. In this age of Kali many have falsely advertised themselves to be holy teachers when they were not. Prabhupada has also warned that many may wear tilaka and a dhoti but are not necessarily a devotee. He didn’t tell us all to stop wearing religious clothing, as it does help to raise the consciousness of the wearer, and Jesus did not tell the monks to discontinue it either. Only that it should not be worn for the ‘purpose’ of advertising false piety.
Next, facility needed to come about where anyone can elevate themselves to become a priest. Srila Prabhupada has offered such facility. He opened countless temples and ashrams for anyone to move in who sincerely desires to learn. He also gives such information through his books and through association of the devotees, as it it not limited to the temples. Not everyone can move into a temple, but anyone who is sincere can learn at home. Nevertheless, he received harsh criticism from some Hindus that he has made white men, and even women, brahmanas! For that matter, he has made black men and women brahmanas. Prabhupada has repeatedly pointed out that one is not “born” brahmana, as is a popular misconception amongst some Hindus (not all). Rather, anyone can elevate themselves and become qualified. More importantly, he preached that it does not matter if one is brahmana, vaisya, ksatriya or sudra since we are not our bodies - we are spirit soul. Further, he has elevated those who correctly follow him to be higher than brahmana, off the bodily concept, and on to Vaishanava! Srila Prabhupada taught what is most important of everything is to chant the Holy Name of Krishna and go back to Home, back to Godhead!
Thank you Srila Prabhupada. Without your books, I would have never been able to 'correctly' understand Christ's true teachings here.]
